Pre-K - 5th Grade

OVCN Sports takes the focus away from the scoreboard and places it on things that truly matter like team work, skill building, and community. We focus on what it means to live a life of faith and place your hope and trust in Jesus Christ.

Kids 4 years old – 5th grade are invited to play:

  • Flag Football in the fall
  • Cheerleading in the fall
  • Basketball in the winter 
  • Soccer in the spring
  • Run the Race (fall & spring)

We invite you to be a part of the OVCN Sports family and to play with purpose!

Flag Football & Cheer

Registration opens in the summer and the season begins in August, usually lasting eight weeks. It ends with an Awards Celebration in the OVCN Sanctuary. Teams practice are one night a week and games are on Saturday mornings. Flag football is co-ed.

Flag football and cheer registration is open now. The season begins Aug 1. Practices are Thursdays and games are Saturdays at Wilson K-8 (2330 W. Glover Rd, Oro Valley).

  • Age groups: K4/K5, 1st-2nd grades, 3rd-5th grades. Flag football is co-ed.
  • First Practice: Thurs, Aug 6
  • First Game: Sat, Aug 15

RUN THE RACE

Run the Race is a running club for kids 7-14 years old, that focuses on what it means to live a life of faith and place your hope and trust in Jesus Christ through running. We encourage parents to participate and run with their kids.

  • A nine-week training program
  • Practice twice a week
    • Mondays: OVCN (Bldg F) at 5:15-6:30PM, starting 2/9
    • Saturdays: Wilson K8 at 9-10am, starting 2/14
  • The kids are training for the 2 Mile Sunset FUN Run at Sabino Canyon on Saturday, April 11
  • $70 cost includes t-shirt, $25 FUN Run registration fee and rental fees

Basketball

Registration opens in October, the season starts in November and lasts eight weeks. It ends with an Awards Celebration in the OVCN Sanctuary. Teams practice once a week and games are on Saturday mornings all usually at Coronado K-8.

Registration is open now, the season is  November 1 – January 31 with a holiday break (2 weeks).  Practices and games are at Coronado K-8. Spots are limited so don’t wait to sign up!

  • K4/K5 and 1st-2nd grades practice on Thursdays starting November 6.
  • 3rd-5th grades practice on Tuesdays starting November 4.
  • All games are on Saturdays starting November 15.
  • All teams are co-ed.

OVCN Soccer is coming to MARANA this season! Registration for this league is open until February 25, and the season starts in March and lasts eight weeks.

  • Age groups are K4/K5 and 1st-2nd grade
  • Practices are on Tuesdays and games are on Saturday mornings 
  • Marana league practices and games are at Marana Middle School.

All teams are co-ed. Shin guards are required, and cleats are recommended.

COMMONLY Asked questions

No. We believe that all children deserve opportunities to be active, learn, and have fun! That's why our inclusive system ensures equal play time, no matter the skill level.

Soccer requires shin guards and athletic shoes or cleats. Basketball and Cheer require athletic shoes and Flag Football requires athletic shoes or cleats. If your child has a ball to practice at home with, that will improve their skills exponentially, but this is not required.

All other equipment is provided by us.

All sports (except Run the Race) cost $130. There are no discounts available for siblings, but if you need financial assistance you can email [email protected]. 50% scholarships are available for a coach's or referee's child as well.

The registration fee includes a uniform.

N0! You do not have to attend services at OVCN to participate in our youth sports program. All kids in our community are welcome!

Each team should have an even mix of seasoned or skilled players and new(er) players if possible. If your child would like to play with a friend, please include this request on your registration form.

Training Day is one of the tools we use to help us create fair teams. Each child is invited to come and run through the available drills to help us assess their skill level.

Typically each season lasts about eight weeks and ends with an Awards Celebration in the OVCN Sanctuary.
